PUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNAL - Tukwila-based fusion energy startup Avalanche Energy has raised $29 million.

The funding, announced Tuesday, will partly go toward Avalanche's roughly 25,000-square-foot fusion test facility, called FusionWERX, which it is developing in Richland. The company in July landed $10 million from the Washington State Department of Commerce for the facility, but the grant required a cost match, which the new funding will provide.

"We're working on the first couple (job descriptions) that are going to go out in the Richland area now. Those are going to start showing up soon," said Robin Langtry, co-founder and CEO of Avalanche.

Note:  Avalanche Energy is headquartered in Tukwila.
