PUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNAL - It takes courage to grow a small business. For Courtni Doherty, it came out of necessity.
She admits when she founded Circle Creek Therapy 10 years ago in a 900-square-foot space in Auburn, her courage was fueled by the confidence and naiveté she felt coming out of her speech pathology master’s program. But her next move was a calculated risk.
“We knew that it was needed ... that our child was going to need it,” she says.
Courtni’s first child, Noah, was diagnosed with epilepsy at 3 years old. He needed physical and occupational therapy in addition to speech. Courtni and her husband, Stephen, experienced long waiting lists and a lack of options to get Noah the help he needed. Courtni said she saw a business opportunity and felt called to help other families in their situation.
